A home away from home for the 1,850 mining employees who enjoy the creature comforts of a village created by Ausco Modular.
Creating a ‘mini-city’ in a remote location to comfortably accommodate workers is the backbone and speciality of Ausco Modular.
To attract and retain a quality workforce in challenging rural environments often hinges on the quality of amenities and the ‘home away from home’ touches provided by well planned and serviced accommodation villages.
In this instance, a 1,850 person project accommodation village was required to service the Goonyella Coal Mine in central Queensland. Won through a competitive tender, the scope of this hire project was detailed and exacting, including the following components:
- Design, build and install a full turnkey accommodation village for a 1,850 strong workforce.
- Central facilities included wet mess, commercial kitchen facilities, large dining complex and a range of leisure facilities to promote a healthy active lifestyle in the village.
Village life – it’s not all about the work!
Gymnasium facilities, fully landscaped BBQ and outdoor leisure areas and recreation rooms provide occupants with plenty of leisure options outside work hours.
Completed in 2009, the length of the hire contract is approximately three years, with a buy out option incorporated. Ausco Modular works in conjunction with the client appointed site manager and oversees all building maintenance.
