Abacus Learning Centre

Incredible custom facility for children in need

Abacus Learning Centre provides centre-based therapy programs that help young autistic people connect, communicate, and learn.

Abacus ABA is based on extensive clinical experience and research. The team focus on improving a child’s ability to effectively learn in social and educational settings. Ensuring every child has fun and is motivated is a key element of each one of their tailored programs.

As a registered charity and for-purpose organisation, Abacus received government support for a new purpose-built centre that would help many more families access life-changing early intervention for their children.

To ensure optimal spatial and sensory conditions, Ausco collaborated closely with the Abacus team to deliver a sensitively designed space that considers sightlines, acoustics, lighting, movement, accessibility and child safety.

The energy efficient development features 1:1 therapy rooms, gross motor-skills/lunch room, sensory room, group therapy area and dedicated office/meeting spaces. The modular style of the build helped to ensure minimum disruption to the current operations located on the same site.

Abacus are hopeful that with community support they will be able to continue expanding their service using the new centre as a model for the interior design of learning environments for autistic people.
