Hire buildings and gantries working together
The South Australian Health & Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) is a circa $200 million construction project to deliver a new research centre and medical school for the University of Adelaide. The project is situated on North Terrace in Adelaide’s CBD, adjacent to the site of the new Royal Adelaide Hospital.Ausco Modular was chosen to provide the construction site buildings for the SAHMRI project, scheduled to finish mid-2013.
Wedged on the corner of the construction site and an intersection, the selected building area provided a complex and inadequate space for the client’s requirements.
Ausco Modular proposed a fit for purpose multi-level modular solution. To ensure the buildings would fit in the available area on and around the client designed steel gantry, Ausco Modular worked closely with customer’s project team. Drawing on Ausco Modular’s internal design and engineering team, the building mix was selected so that a workforce of more than 250 people could be catered for.
The install programme was very tight; any delay in handover would flow on and dramatically affect the SAHMRI’s fixed construction programme. Ausco Modular handed over the buildings one day earlier than expected.
Ausco Modular received a commendation thanking those involved for their efforts.
“Ausco’s input during the design and planning of the new site establishment was invaluable given the complex nature of the site establishment works. Ausco’s professional approach was pivotal in ensuring that our fixed programme dates were met.”- Marcus Anderson, Project Manger
The proven delivery and high level of service has led to Ausco Modular securing the hire and sale works for the Royal Adelaide Hospital which will be situated next door to the SAHMRI building.
