Ausco Modular to the rescue of Greenmount students

Australia’s leading modular building company has come to the rescue of 60 students from years six and seven at Greenmount Primary school, who were facing the prospect of starting the new school year without a classroom.

Ausco Modular delivered two new transportable classrooms to the Perth school just 10 days after arsonists destroyed existing buildings. The company’s swift response ensured the school was able to function normally on its first day. Western Australia’s Department of Education and Training called for urgent assistance after the fires, which occurred on January 17.

On Tuesday, January 20, the department selected Ausco Modular to provide the new classrooms, and just one week later the new buildings were being lifted into place on site.

Ausco’s West Australian Regional manager James Rowdon said the company’s flexibility and responsiveness had allowed it to answer the department’s call and ensure the new classrooms were fully functional in time for the start of the classes today.

“The beginning of a new school year is a difficult enough time for students, teachers and parents, without the added worry of not having a safe and functional learning environment for 60 students,” Mr Rowdon said.

“We at Ausco Modular are proud that we were able to deliver for the Department of Education and Training, and more importantly for the people who need to use the classrooms – students and teachers.

“To have attempted to repair the damage with an on-site building project would have meant the students were waiting at least half the school year for their classrooms to be ready.

“Modular construction, however, has ensured they are able to start the new school year without any disruption.

“The new buildings were installed last Tuesday – January 27 – ensuring the department and school staff had plenty of time to fit them out.

“Ausco Modular school buildings have the same design features of permanent construction, including high quality insulation for temperature control and sound-proofing, and measures to minimise energy consumption.

“They use materials designed to be visually appealing, while at the same time withstanding the demands placed on them by school students.

“Ausco’s education buildings provide an excellent learning environment, and are a perfect solution for schools, colleges and universities.”
