In a joint fundraising effort, Ausco Modular and FDC Construction hosted a barbecue on Friday June 30 for Childhood Cancer Support raising $1000 from donations from staff on site.
Both companies selected Childhood Cancer Support as their chosen charity after contacting a previous Ausco Modular colleague whose child was diagnosed with cancer, that recommended the organisation for their services.
Ausco, FDC and Childood Cancer Support team members with several families currently receiving support from the charity.
Childhood Cancer Support is the only long term accommodation provider in Queensland for pediatric cancer yet they rely solely on funding.
They provide apartments for affected families at both the Herston and South Brisbane campuses for remote families so they can remain together whilst the child undergoes treatment.
General Manager of Childhood Cancer Support, Helen Crew, says she is very appreciative of the local fundraising efforts.
“Childhood Cancer Support receives no government funding so for us every cent counts,” said Helen.
“We rely on fundraising and corporate initiatives such as this to continue to be able to provide long term accommodation for regional and rural families whose children are affected by cancer.”
Ausco’s Business Development Representative, Bernadette Bramble, said the aim was to raise as much as they could for this very deserving charity.
“Through donations and raffle prizes, both Ausco and FDC aimed to raise money and also awareness of the great work that Childhood Cancer Support do in our community,” she said.
